WB SET Exam Date 2025
The 27th WB State Eligibility Test 2025 is set for Sunday, December 14, 2025, in accordance with the WB SET Notification 2025. There will be two papers in the 2025 West Bengal SET Exam, which will take place across two different sessions. The time slots for the first and second papers are 10:30 am to 11 am and 12 pm to 2 pm, respectively.

Eligibility Criteria for WBSET 2025
Candidates should be aware of the WB SET Eligibility Criteria established by the test authorities before to submitting the WB SET Application Form 2025.
Educational Qualification
- Candidates must have completed their Master’s Degree OR equivalent Examination from Universities/Institutions recognized by UGC.
- Candidates from the General/EWS category must have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in the Master’s Degree OR equivalent Examination.
- Candidates from Other Backward Classes(OBC) belonging to the non-creamy layer/ Scheduled Caste(SC) /Scheduled Tribe(ST)/ persons with disability(PWD)/ Transgender category have to secure at least 50% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s degree or equivalent Examination to be eligible for this Test.
- The Ph.D. degree holders whose Master’s level Examination had been completed by 19th September 1991(irrespective of the date of declaration of result) shall be eligible for a relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks (i.e. from 55% to 50%) for appearing in SET.
Note: Students pursuing their Master’s degree or equivalent, or those who have taken their final exams and are waiting for the results, are eligible to apply for this test. They will be considered eligible for the Assistant Professor position only after passing their Master’s degree or equivalent with at least 55% marks (50% for OBC/SC/ST/PWD/Transgender). These candidates must complete their degree within two years of the SET result with the required percentage of marks, or they will be disqualified.
Age Limit
The West Bengal State Eligibility Test (WB SET) has no upper age restriction for applicants. Therefore, there is no upper age limit for West Bengal SET. Candidates may apply for this test if they meet the minimal educational criteria.

WB SET Exam Pattern 2025
There will be multiple-choice, objective-type questions on the WB SET Exam.
There are two papers on the test. Papers 1 and 2.
There will be 50 required objective-type questions in Paper I, each worth two points. The purpose of the general questions is to evaluate the candidate’s capacity for research and teaching.
Based on the candidate’s chosen subject, Paper II will have 100 mandatory objective-type questions worth two marks each.
Paper I takes one hour to complete, while Paper 2 takes two hours.
Two marks will be given for each right answer.
No points are deducted for wrong responses.
