Note: If positions are reserved for OBC (non-creamy) applicants, the upper age relaxation of three years applies, and for SC/ST candidates, it is five years.

Educational Qualification & Vacancy

(a) General Duty Navik. The Council of Boards for School Education (COBSE)-recognized education board awarded the class 12 students a passing grade in math and physics.
(b) Domestic Branch of Navik. Students in the tenth grade graduated from an educational institution approved by the Council of Boards for School Education (COBSE).
Yantrik (c). Class 10 students graduated from an educational institution approved by the Council of Boards for

School Education (COBSE) and a three- or four-year All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE)-approved diploma in electrical, mechanical, electronic, or telecommunication (radio/power) engineering.
OR completion of Class 10 and Class 12 from an educational board approved by the Council of Boards for School Education (COBSE) “AND” a two- or three-year All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE)-approved diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, Electronics, or Telecommunication (Radio/Power) Engineering.

Procedure for Selection
Based on their performance in Stages I, II, III, and IV (described in detail below) and the number of open positions, recruits are chosen in an all-India order of merit. To be hired by ICG, candidates must successfully complete Stages I, II, III, and IV as well as demonstrate excellent training performance. During stages I, II, III, and IV of the selection process, all candidates will be required to submit to biometric, picture, and document verification. The following are the specifics of the several stages: Written examination, physical fitness test, medical test, and merit list are the first four components.

  1. a) The question paper will be objective type with four options. The candidate has to choose the correct option.

Examination City

Examination City In the application for stages I and II of the procedure, the candidate must provide five preferences for the examination city.
• For applicants who are SC/ST, the first city they select for the exam must be within 30 kilometers of their current residence, where they plan to take the test.
• If there are no “examination cities” within 30 kilometers of the candidate’s present address, the candidate must select the closest “examination city” from their current address.
• The Indian Coast Guard maintains the authority to select the city for the written test in stage I and the PFT/medical exam in stage II, which may or may not be the candidate’s preference.

Stage-II

Assessment/Adaptability Test.

Candidates who have been biometrically confirmed will take an OMR-based assessment test. After the exam is conducted for an hour, the results will be made public. Only applicants who pass this test will move on to the PFT, the next stage of the exam.

  1. Physical Fitness Test (PFT)

➣ For everyone who passes the written exams, PFT will be held. Candidates that participate in PFT do so at their own peril. It is recommended that all applicants have a sports outfit, such as shoes, a t-shirt, trousers, etc. The PFT includes:

iii.Medical Standards

Medical examinations will be performed by approved military physicians in accordance with current procedures that apply to enrolled personnel upon arrival.

Height: Minimum height 157 cms. Reduction in height for candidates from hilly areas and tribal areas will be in accordance with the Central Govt. orders.

Hearing: Normal.

Declaration of results
By logging into the candidate’s account on the ICG website, one may view the results of every step of the selection process, from stage I to stage III. Within 20 days, the provisional results of the stage I online exam will be made public.

Instruction
The INS Chilka will tentatively start the basic training for Navik (General Duty) and Navik (Domestic Branch) in early to mid-September 2025. This will be followed by professional training in the designated trade and sea training. Branches and trades will be assigned based on performance throughout basic training and service requirements. If the applicants’ conduct or progress (including academic) is inadequate at any point throughout training, they risk being dismissed as UNSUITABLE. If a trainee’s online application or supporting documentation is discovered to be fraudulent at any point throughout the hiring process, they may also be dismissed from the program.
