The Telangana Teacher Eligibility Test (TS TET) for January 2026 has been formally announced by the Telangana government’s School Education Department. From January 3 to January 31, 2026, the test will be administered via a computer-based test (CBT).

The Telangana State Government modified Rule 12 (Exemption from Passing TET) under GO MS No. 36, which represents a significant policy shift.
The Teacher Eligibility Test (TET), administered by the State Government (TS TET) or the Central Government (CTET), is now required for all in-service teachers employed by Government and Local Body Schools.This amendment ensures uniform teacher quality standards and aligns Telangana’s teacher recruitment norms with the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) guidelines.

About TS TET
The Telangana Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) is a state-level test that establishes eligibility for teaching positions in government, Zilla Parishad, Mandal Parishad, and private schools throughout Telangana at the Primary (Classes I–V) and Upper Primary (Classes VI–VIII) levels.Paper-I (for primary teachers) and Paper-II (for upper primary teachers) make up the exam. Candidates may apply if they have a B.Ed., D.El.Ed., or comparable credentials.

Telangana TET Application Fee 2026
The application cost must be paid by candidates submitting an online application for teacher recruitment. For TG TET 2026, candidates must pay an application fee of Rs 400, which can only be done online. All candidates are required to pay the application fee. If payment is not received, no Telangana TET 2026 registration will be approved.
TGTET Certificate/Marks Memo Validity Period:
Unless the Telangana government notifies you differently, TGTET qualifying certificates for appointment are valid for a lifetime.
Weighting for Teacher Recruitment Test TGTET Scores:
In the State of Telangana, the Teacher Recruitment Test will give 20% weight to the TET result.

The following are the minimal qualifications needed to apply for TG TET 2026:
Applicants may also apply for the TS-TET-2026 if they are in their final year of any Teacher Education or Language Pandit Training program certified by the NCTE or RCI. It is made clear, however, that a candidate cannot be considered for a position as a teacher in Government, Zilla Parishad, Mandal Parishad, or Private Aided Schools simply by showing up or passing the TS-TET unless he meets the requirements listed in the applicable statutory recruitment rules, which are periodically created by the State Government, as of the date specified for possession.

Eligibility Criteria:
The qualifications prescribed for appearing at Paper I and Paper II of TGTET-January-2026 are given in Information Bulletin.It is made clear, however, that a candidate’s mere TGTET qualification does not grant them the right to be considered for a position as a teacher in a government, local authority, or private-aided school; instead, they must adhere to the applicable statutory recruitment rules that are periodically established by the state government.
Structure, Content, Syllabus, Initial and Final Key of TGTET-January-2026:

iii. The Director of School Education and Chairperson, TGTET is the competent authority to publish the initial key of the question papers after the conduct of CBT inviting objections through online, if any, from the candidates who appeared for the CBT, duly giving a reasonable time to the candidates for filing objections on the initial key and the same shall be disposed of by the expert committee constituted by the Director of School Education and Chairperson, TGTET. The final key shall be published for the information of candidates. Any representation / petition / objection on the key after the above stipulated period shall not be entertained.
Pass Criteria
The criteria for considering pass in TG-TET are as follows:

NOTE: **Note: Only a minimum 40% handicap will be taken into account for visually and orthopedically impaired people. A hearing impairment of at least 75% will fall under the PH group.

Weightage
According to G.O.Ms.No.36,School Education (Trg.) Dept., dt 23.12.2015 noted under ref.1, the TET score is given 20% weightage in the Telangana Teacher Recruitment Test.
